With the increasing number of freestanding emergency rooms (ERs) in Texas, it’s important to understand how they are different from the other health care providers, such as urgent care clinics.
Most freestanding ERs and the professionals who work at them are not affiliated with a hospital and are not in the HealthSelect of TexasSM or HMO networks. This means employees who visit those may pay much more out of pocket.
