Vaccine Distribution PlanThe vaccine distribution plan is being updated as more vaccines become available. You should keep checking the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) website for the most up-to-date information about vaccine distribution. Accessing the VaccineAs availability of the vaccine increases, you can get the vaccine at your primary care provider’s office, pharmacy and other locations. You can also find a vaccine provider by visiting the Texas COVID-19 Vaccine Provider Locations map or calling 2-1-1 in Texas. Before making an appointment or heading to a pharmacy, visit the provider’s website or call to ask about vaccine availability and if you need to bring any proof of qualifying condition. There’s a limited supply of vaccines. We recommend you bring your Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) medical ID card and your prescription drug ID card as proof of coverage to your vaccine appointment. You may need more than one shot for effectiveness. Some of the COVID-19 vaccines require two doses. Once you get your first dose, make sure to ask about getting your second dose of the same vaccine before leaving. Learn more about COVID-19 vaccinations and coverage on the HealthSelect website.
