Wellness Education for the New Year

With the New Year around the corner, you may be thinking about what you want to accomplish in 2023.

Health Select Resources

You can succeed with your health and wellness goals by being aware of all the resources available to you through your HealthSelect medical plan. Get educated and motivated to get more active and eat better by attending monthly webinars hosted by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) wellness educators:

  • Fitness Connect Community:  The Employees Retirement System of Texas and BCBSTX invite state employees to talk about fitness topics and share their successes and challenges. These quarterly 15-minute sessions are designed to help attendees get fit and stay healthy.  See the list of topics and register.
  • Nutrition Connect Community:  Healthy eating is key to a healthy life. Join BCBSTX to learn how to incorporate foods into your daily routine that support your optimal health. Each month, attendees can connect with other participants and share their experiences.  See the list of topics and register. (Link to go up soon.)

Wellness Leave

To encourage employees to be aware of and reduce their health risks, UHD provides a wellness leave incentive of up to eight (8) hours to full-time benefits-eligible employees who complete an online health risk assessment and receive an annual comprehensive physical exam.

The wellness leave is awarded after the employee has completed an on-line Health Risk Assessment and a physical exam.  The wellness leave expires one (1) year after it is awarded.

For more information visit Health Risk Assessment and Physical Exam Incentive for instructions and form, and see UHD policy PS 02.B.13, Employee Wellness Program Policy.
