UHD employees have access to dozens of free, high-quality, competency-based learning opportunities offered by the Office of Human Resources’ Talent Development (TD) team each year.

The TD Team offers sessions relevant to faculty, staff, student employees, and supervisors. Whether you’re looking to hone a soft skill, to pick up a new computer-related skill, to learn more about UHD’s career advancement opportunities, or you’re a supervisor looking to enhance your management and leadership skills, the TD team has something for you!

January Opportunities

Gator Learning - Maintaining Success: Professional Development Through Deliberate Actions that Renew and Recharge

What: Participants in this training will dive into four categories of renewal, learn how to prioritize self-care amidst work demands, and discover how a rejuvenated and balanced self serves as the foundation for effectiveness, happiness, and well-being.

Gator LEAD: Creating a Culture of Candor and Feedback (for Supervisors)

What: “Creating a Culture of Candor and Feedback” empowers leaders to create an atmosphere of continuous improvement and drive exceptional results by harnessing the power of feedback. This workshop delves into critical components of effective team candor, feedback frameworks that work across situations, and strategies for handling difficult conversations.

When: Thursday, January 11 - 10:00 - 11:30a.m.

Gator Learning - Leading by Example: How to be the Ideal Team Player

What: Participants will join Jose Vazquez, Associate Director of Student Activities, to gain proficiency in articulating the three core aspects of an ideal team player. They will develop skills to recognize these characteristics in colleagues, enhancing their ability to identify and nurture potential team players. Furthermore, the training will equip participants with strategies to empower and inspire their peers, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.

Gator Learning - From Swamp to Restoration: Cultivating a Growth mindset for Positive Impacts on Student Success and Organizational Excellence (Part 1)

What: In this two-part training series, participants will navigate the transformative journey from the swamps of limitations to the heights of restoration. Participants will dive into the power of a growth mindset, a driving force behind student success and organizational excellence. Through introspective activities, collaborative engagements, and elevating mindset-shaping techniques, participants will uncover tools to overcome setbacks and foster an environment where growth is not just possible – it’s inevitable.

When: Wednesday, February 7 - 10:30a.m. - 12:00p.m.

Audience: UHD Staff and Faculty

Gator Learning - Excel Formulas and Functions (Part 1) with the TTLC

What: Participants will practice the use of advanced Excel formulas and functions including Logic, Text, and Lookup functions.

  • Users will learn how to create their own Formulas
  • Users will learn the proper use of Excel provided functions
  • Users will learn advanced tips for maximizing their formulas and functions

What: Effective delegation and accountability are essential skills for managers to drive productivity, foster employee growth, and achieve team success. In the “Deliberate Delegation and Accountability” workshop we will delve into the core principles of effective delegation, discuss how to build self and team accountability, and tools to support delegation and accountability.
