Mandatory Training: What Every UHD Employee Needs to Know

The beginning of the new year brings many things: new students, new colleagues, and annual mandatory training (among plenty of other things, of course)!

99% of UHD employees completed their mandatory training in FY 24, but UHD’s Talent Development (TD) team, the team responsible for overseeing UHD’s annual mandatory training process, has set an ambitious goal of 100% completion this year!

To help us reach this goal, the TD team has provided some helpful information and collected answers to some of the most commonly asked questions regarding annual mandatory training.


New Hire and Annual Mandatory Training Policy: 

In accordance with the UH System Administrative Memorandum 02.A.26, it is the responsibility of each employee to complete annual mandatory training. Employees who do not complete annual mandatory training by the published deadline will not have met their job expectations and will, therefore, not be eligible for merit increases. Supervisors are responsible for monitoring their employees’ training performance.  

Access: 

  • https://tap.uhd.edu/login.php 
  • If an individual pulls up a training or a quiz and is not active for 30 min, TAP will time out and no data will be captured. 

Timeline:

  • Mandatory Training: October 1, 2024 - November 22, 2024 
  •  You can complete your training in sections or in one sitting. Allow yourself enough time. 

FAQ:

  • Even though I am a rehire or have worked here for years, do I still need to complete this annual training?
    • Yes. Per UHS Policy, all UHD employees are required to complete mandatory training (either New Hire or Annual Mandatory Training) each fiscal year. Anyone in a hire status (hire/rehire) on or after 9/1, will be enrolled in New Hire Training and will not be enrolled in the Annual Mandatory training. You will have 30 days from the date of rehire to complete the New Hire courses. 
  • I can’t see my training…
    • Make sure to use Firefox or Chrome. If you use an iOS or Microsoft Edge, you will not see your training courses. 
    • If you continue to have problems, email td@uhd.edu, along with your name and EID. 
  • I am not able to log in…
    • Use your network ID and password. If that does not work, try using your EID and network password. 
    • If you continue to have problems, email td@uhd.edu, along with your name and EID. 
  • How and when will I be notified and enrolled?
    • Automatically enrolled by the UHS on October 1st, 2024. 
    • Initial email: Sent out first Monday in October 
    • Status emails: Sent out every other Monday starting the second Monday in October 
    • Final email: Sent after all required training is completed 
    • Course completion status: Sent out by TAP as soon as a quiz is completed 
  • Why do the dates look off?
    • All online courses have the same start and end date (8/31/25): the last day of FY25. Please ignore this.
