If you have still have money in your TexFlex flexible spending account (FSA) or in your TexFlex limited FSA, now is the time to schedule doctor appointments, order new prescription glasses, get that dental procedure taken care of or visit the FSA store!

While $500 will roll over into the next plan year, you will lose any money that remains in your account in excess of that $500. Don’t lose those funds, spend them before the August 31, 2017 deadline. Did you know that Band-Aids, contact solution and first aid kits might be eligible TexFlex health care expenses? Visit the FSA Store for more information on eligible items.

(Note: If you are enrolled in Consumer Directed HealthSelect, remember that funds from the TexFlex limited FSA can only be used for vision or dental care expenses.)

You have until August 31, 2017 to spend your FSA balance and the deadline to submit claims for the health care dollars you spent during the past benefit year is December 31, 2017.

In addition, if you did not enroll in the TexFlex Health Care FSA or limited FSA for Plan Year 2018 and you have a balance between $25 and $500, a 2018 account will automatically be created for you so you may continue using your funds as long as you continue to be employed by the state. However, if you didn’t enroll for 2018 and your balance is $25 or less, you will lose any money that remains in your account after the claim submission deadline.

Remember, you have until December 31, 2017 to file claims for your eligible expenses during Plan Year 2017.
