Voting Leave available for benefits-eligible employees

The upcoming Presidential Election is on November 3 and if you are a UHD benefits-eligible employee, you qualify for Voting Leave.

At UHD, Voting Leave provides employees two hours off at the beginning or the end of the workday without deduction from pay or leave time.

By policy, Voting Leave is only available on Election Day. However, due to the pandemic and to reduce lines on Election Day, President Tillis authorized use of Voting Leave during the early voting period and on Election Day.

Prior approval from your supervisor must be obtained before taking the time off, and Voting Leave must be recorded in TRAM by selecting:

  • “Other Paid Leave”
  • Under Absence Name also select “Other Paid Leave”
  • Type “Voting Leave” in the Comments section of the Absence Management Request

Benefits-eligible employees are those who work at least 20 hours per week for a period of at least 4.5 continuous months, or for a full semester, excluding students employed in positions that require student status as a condition of employment.

If you have any questions about Voting Leave, please feel free to contact ESO’s Benefits Team at Benefits@uhd.edu.
